Fox Platter by Meghan Bernard in Tryon, NC

Meghan Bernard

Originally from Michigan, Meghan earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fine Art from Michigan State University in 2002. Following her studies, she spent two years in Savannah, Georgia, while her husband completed his master’s program at the Savannah College of Art and Design. During this time, she began selling her pottery, marking the start of her professional journey as a ceramic artist.

Frequent travels between Savannah and Western North Carolina led Meghan and her husband to develop a deep appreciation for the region’s rich craft community. In 2004, they made the move permanent, and shortly thereafter, Meghan was accepted into the prestigious Southern Highlands Craft Guild.

For many years, she showcased her work at art festivals along the East Coast. However, she has since shifted her focus primarily to gallery representation, allowing her to spend more time in her home studio while enjoying family life. Surrounded by the beauty of nature, Meghan draws endless inspiration from the wildlife just beyond her door—from the House Wrens that return each spring to the dragonflies that grace her garden. Each piece she creates reflects her deep connection to the natural world, bringing a sense of organic beauty to her work.
